How To Stop Playing Small And Start A Movement!

woman-sunIt’s 3.15am. I’ve just got off a webinar with my mentor Ann Sieg. I can’t get back to sleep, my brain is buzzing. You know how it is when you hear something which causes a sharp intake of breath because someone has put into words something that you’ve known, felt and believed for a long time and yet when you hear it reflected to you by another it hits home, hard, and you realise “Yes, that’s it, that’s it, that’s exactly it!”.

I had that experience tonight when I heard Ann say, “A whole new level opens up when you create a movement”. She spoke so clearly to my desire to create a movement that sees many more holistic practitioners run thriving, sustainable and deeply fulfilling practices than the small percentage who manage to achieve that feat at the moment.

One thing I know for sure, and I believe if you’re reading this that it’s true for you too; it’s time to stop, stamp out any tendency to play small, it’s time to stop hiding your light and start shining. There are things we may not like about the way governments, control freaks and corporations erode and stamp on our personal freedom daily whilst playing Russian roulette with the future of our planet, yet absolutely every one of us, and yes, that means you my friend, have the power to create a movement.

You have the power to create a movement in your own practice when you truly wake up to your own magnificence. When you cease describing yourself and your work in terms of the therapies you’re qualified in but in terms of the problems you have a solution for; when you accept that you are absolutely and totally unique, there is no-one like you or who works exactly the same way you do; when you decide to let yourself be found by the people desperately searching for YOU and you’ll do whatever it takes to make that happen; when you look deeply into your own shadow and face what prevents you from playing full out, the conflicting intentions and incongruences you may be completely unconscious of, even as they keep you from living your dream in a way no outside force has power to.

The power truly is within and when every cell in your being vibrates with the truth of that knowing, everything changes, within and without.

You are magnificent. What is one thing that you’re going to do today to express your magnificence, start your own movement and take your life and your practice to a whole new level?

P.S. Don’t keep it a secret, please share below!

Haha, YES! Excactly what I say to my singers. There is an audience for YOU waiting to hear you sing!

Well said Abi. The world needs more holistic practitioners making them readily available to the world!!! I I happen to know you have the tools to help them achieve just that! 🙂

Thanks a million Stella. I know my life would be very different today if it wasn’t for some amazing practitioners I met along the way. I feel so much gratitude to them and feel deeply honoured to work in this field.

Abigail, this really resonates with me. As a yoga teacher, I’m always trying to get people to shine their lights! I love the idea of starting a movement. I do believe people are waiting for the help we can offer and we need to step up and serve. Nice post!

Absolutely, Abi. We have a tendency to see the mountain in front of us at times and stop pressing on. We can climb that mountain if we will just try. I tried listening to the webinar, but there were too many distractions in my house at that time. I tried to listen to the replay at work yesterday because this is a slow time and for some reason people kept showing up or the phone kept ringing. I have a 2 and 3 year old with me this weekend, but the first of the week, I am going to go back and listen carefully.

Thank God Ann’s webinars are recorded. It makes life so much easier. I’ve two grandsons, one 3 year old and the other one a year and a half. I don’t get much done when they’re around either Susan!
