Advertising and self-promotion are about the sale of products and services. Marketing is about solving problems; it’s a process which assists you in fulfilling your mission and expanding your value to the world. If you’ve floundered around various promotional activities with little success, believe you dislike or even hate ‘marketing’ and the very idea of it, I’d like to show you a different way of perceiving marketing.

- What problems do you solve?
- Who is your ideal client?
- Where do they hang out?
- How can you get to talk to them?
- What keeps them awake at night?
- What are their fears and frustrations?
- What are they feeling?
- What are they needing?
Take the time to really dig into those questions until you know the answers like you know your own name, and then build your own unique Client Attraction Strategy. If you do this, marketing your practice will be as natural and easy to you as talking to someone you’ve just met about the weather. If you’ve never asked yourself those questions before you can see now how you’d have problems with marketing? After all, if you don’t know whether or not you really solve problems, what those problems are, what someone’s pain is that you have a solution for, who those people are and how you can get to talk to them, what do you do? Throw a lot of promotional messages out there hoping they appeal to somebody, anybody? Quite often they appeal to nobody; your potential clients continue searching for someone just like you who has the solution you have, while you continue to frustrate yourself with your spray and pray approach, spraying a lot of stuff out there and praying something comes back. This is often an ineffective, expensive way to attract clients, who may not even be the ideal clients for you. The frustration you experience can lead to discouragement, self-doubt, and a lowering of your own energetic vibration and with it your own attraction factor. When you reach this point it’s easy to conclude that marketing your practice is difficult, unproductive and distasteful. The tragedy is that many potentially great practitioners who start a practice don’t get past this and become part of a large percentage who don’t practice professionally after qualifying from their training.
